Bollywood star Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29 last year after a two-year long battle with cancer. The actor left an unmatched legacy of films behind and fans are still in awe of his screen presence. His death shocked his fans across the world, but the pain of his loss was unimaginable for his family. In a recent interview with Film Companion, Babil Khan (Irrfan’s son) revealed that he went into severe depression after his father’s death.
Babil shared that it had only been a few days since his father’s passing and that is mother was shocked to see that he was taking it so well. “I was making sure everything was fine at home and at the hospital but it was really bad. I can’t explain the amount of pain he was going through. I remember when I was once asked to leave the hospital room, he almost yelled, ‘Babil, don’t leave me.’ The staff pulled me out of the room and he screamed my name. I never felt that much pain and helplessness. I just stood there outside, hearing him scream my name,” shared the actor.
But it all came crashing down to him after a few days. Babil explained: “I just crashed. Everything shut down. I went into deep depression. I was very suicidal and didn’t have the will to live anymore. I still struggle with it a lot. And at that time, my mother was the strength. She has always has been.”
