Bollywood star Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29 last year after a two-year long battle with cancer. But prior to his passing, Irrfan had recovered – which is when he shot Angrezi Medium. Many were happy to finally see him on screen, but little did they know that it would also be the star’s last film and that he would pass away a month after its release.
While Irrfan’s death came as a shock to many, he knew that his time was near. In an interview with Film Companion, Irrfan’s son, Babil Khan spoke about the last moments with his father. He was at the hospital with Irrfan three days before his passing when Babil noticed that his father was losing consciousness. At that moment, Irrfan looked at Babil and said: “I am going to die.” Babil replied that he wasn’t but Irrfan smiled at him and closed his eyes.
Irrfan’s death has surely left a void in the hearts of his family and fans. His is now survived by Babil, his widow, Sutapa Sikdar and his younger son, Ayaan Khan – and of course, the many amazing films that he’s left behind for the world.
