Biopics on sporting legends have turned out to be very successful and this time around, one on Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly is in the works. While the sportsman had earlier denied any such reports, he has now confirmed it and rumours are abuzz that Ranbir Kapoor will be roped in to play the lead.
According to Crictracker, Sourav Ganguly has confirmed the making of a biopic on him. He said: Yes, I agreed with the biography. It’s in Hindi, but I can’t say the director’s name right now. It will take a few more days to get everything in place.” Further details state that Ranbir will be playing him on-screen with an expected budget of Rs 200-250 crore – as stated by Sourav Ganguly himself. Earlier, Hrithik Roshan was rumoured to play the lead.
The biopic is expected to revolve around Sourav Ganguly’s childhood and how he became an international cricketing sensation. It will then also focus on how he helped the Indian cricket team reach new heights. The release date has not been confirmed either, but with a script underway, shooting is expected to go on floors soon.
